Keho ja kirjoittaminen

ENGLISH BELOW

Ponderosan ConVerge-taiteilijaresidenssissä, Saksassa, pidin kaikille avoimen työpajan ”Writing and the Body”. Työpajan tavoitteena oli lähestyä luovan kirjoittamisen prosessia liikkeen tekemisen kautta.

Lämmittelyosuuteen kuului ohjattu tanssi-improvisaatio, jonka intensiteetti kasvoi loppua kohden.

Writing and the Body

In October 2014, in ConVerge artist residency, Ponderosa, Germany, I held a workshop with the topic Writing and the Body. Together with the participants, we explored how we could awaken our verbal sensitivity through movement. We warmed up our bodies by improv dance movements, starting on the floor and gradually building up the intensity of it, and then stopped after some 20 minutes of movement, keeping our eyes closed.

We then moved on to free stream-of-consciousness speaking, where I would help the participants by writing down their words. After this output phase, the process moved on to active writing. We contracted short poems of 5 words, and to help the process, the rule was to use at least one of the stream-of-consciousness words in each poem.

After the writing process, we warmed up our vocal chords and performed to each other. The group was open and everyone came up with some amazing creative output.

Mainokset

30 Poems for Artists: Adi Brief

Yleinen

In the inspiring artist residency of Ponderosa, Germany, I wrote one poem for each fellow artist, curator and worker at the residency. The poems were then performed at a Poet’s Reception on 2nd October 2014.

This one was made for Adi Brief, a person who has worked hard during years to establish the beautiful residency of Ponderosa. She has seen the place being born, its buildings going through a total renovation, and the community around it evolve and develop. She takes good care of it all, including the garden, and during my stay, appeared as a comfort-bringing household fairy for all of the guests.

Workfully working, joking, lurking

You’ve got it all for a smooth ride

You’ve got your smiles and we llke

the way you commit without a vomit

and do know how dreams

really do come true.

30 Poems for Artists: Nicole Nigro, dancer and choreographer

Poetry

Today, it is the turn of Nicole Nigro from Toronto, Canada. She is a dance artist, choreographer and educator who is interested in interdisciplinarity in her work. Her presence as a performer is both delicate and very intense.

Poem nr 2.

Nicole Nigro

The voice of yours?

Please, keep on talking

You’re like a good radio voice

to listen while you’re walking

And I tell you, if I was a guy

those eyes would make me shy

so you can walk past me

whenever you want

‘cause you look like a letter

written with a script font

30 Poems for Artists: Akseli Aittomäki

Poetry

In the inspiring artist residency of Ponderosa, Germany, I wrote one poem for each fellow artist, curator and worker at the residency. The poems were then performed at a Poet’s Reception on 2nd October 2014.

Today, it is the turn of Akseli Aittomäki from Helsinki, Finland. He is a dance artist and researcher who has a wonderful philosophical approach to his work. Akseli makes dance films and appeared in Ponderosa as a very witty, humorous and thoughtful performer.

Poem nr 1.

Akseli Aittomäki

I like to hand-dance with you.

I bet there is a lot more to do.

If everybody had that spark of yours

There wouldn’t be rains,

There would be pours.
